Zoo Wild Lights

Wednesday after Aidan went home, we went to the Zoo for their Wild Lights event. Kaitlynn and I went on the 18th with, but Dave wasn't able to go with us. We decided to brave the weather and go since it was the last night of the event. It wasn't too terribly cold out. We were bundled up to the max, though. We looked at lights for awhile, then warmed up inside Lakeside Cafe, where Kaitlynn colored a snowflake. We drank some hot chocolate and shared some fries. We walked around looking at lights again, Kaitlynn and daddy rode the carousel and we visited the penguins.

We loved the lights display this year. It was quite amazing.

Afterwards, we went to Wal-Mart to get food and beverages for New Year's Eve.

Google Reader

A few days ago, I started reading / skimming through Google Reader. It was at 1000+ posts. I am down to 0 now. Yeah!

It is such a relief to be caught up on the blogs that I read. I follow about 136 blogs. I probably need to cut down and will stop reading the blogs that I never receive comments from. I went through and tried to leave comments on all the blogs that I read that have been updated in the last month. I feel good entering the New Year with Google Reader cleared out.

Sleep Trouble in December

It's 9PM and Kaitlynn is asleep! Yay! For some reason December seems to be a tough month on us in regards to Kaitlynn's sleep. She wants to stay up all night. It seems to happen every December. So what was different today? I don't know, but she got about 12 hours of sleep. She ate really well at mealtimes. She took a shower before dinner, after dinner we did some crafts, then prayed and she passed out almost immediately!

Her prayer was a Thank You to Jesus. She almost made me cry. She said "thank You Jesus for Bailey, my mommy and daddy and Bailey." It was the sweetest prayer I have ever heard. She also said thank You for Fox & the Hound (one of the movies she currently loves to watch - the 2nd one, not so much the original).

Edited later: I spoke too soon. She's awake. We might be pulling an all nighter!

Another Present

Monday, Kaitlynn and I went to MawMaw's. We met Hanna and Adam at Applebee's for dinner. Kaitlynn got to open her present from Uncle Jeff after dinner. He got her the So Chic Styling Salon. Kaitlynn saw this in the Toys R Us book months ago and said she wanted it. It was really hard to find because according to the workers at Toys R Us, it was one of the hottest selling toys. He stayed up all night on Christmas to pick it up the next morning.

More Christmas Celebration

Saturday the 26th, Kaitlynn woke up asking if she had more presents to open. We explained to her that she is not going to get presents everyday.

She got her wish. She had more presents to open.

I apologize that some of these videos are quite long and for the annoyance of me taking pictures every few seconds during the videos!

Kaitlynn slept until 11AM! It was so nice to sleep in. When she woke up, we opened presents. It was so beautiful outside, almost like a dream. While Kaitlynn was opening gifts, we could see the snow coming down from our front windows and the light dusting the earlier snow had left. We ate omelets and drank coffee / hot chocolate and listened to Christmas music. The omelets were delicious! It was nice taking it easy at our house, opening gifts and eating breakfast before having to leave the house to visit family.

We visited with Great Grandma, Aunt Sue and Uncle Dale. Then we went to MawMaw's where Denise and Brandon met us. Jeff, Hanna and Adam came over later. MawMaw, Dave and I cooked dinner. It was delicious! We had ham, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, potato casserole, dressing, Italian salad and rolls. Christmas was so much fun! We had a great time with family. We opened gifts and played Wii. We ended the night watching "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."

Christmas Eve

Thursday morning, Dave got his haircut (by Hanna) and ran some last minute Christmas Eve / Christmas errands. Later, we went to MawMaw's and started cooking dinner. Hanna, Adam, Denise and Brandon came over. We spent time with Jeff until he had to go to work.

Jim, Trina, Nate and Sis came over before dinner. We ate dinner and exchanged gifts with Nate and Sissy.

We had an awesome Christmas Eve. The weather wasn't wonderful (wet and rainy), but we had a great time together.

Late that evening, Hanna colored and trimmed MawMaw's hair, cut my hair and painted my nails red and trimmed Kaitlynn's hair. She did a really good job! She's getting really good at cutting hair. Dave, Brandon and Kaitlynn played Wii golf. Kaitlynn did really good, too! She had a blast playing.

Merry Christmas

Here is our Christmas Card for this year (with the names cropped off).
Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas Crafts, Phone Call and Video from Santa

Kaitlynn worked on some Christmas crafts Wednesday afternoon when she was feeling a little better. She had so much fun making these crafts. We had some photo Christmas cards left over, so I cut her pictures out and she pasted them to a couple of wreaths. She made a photo wreath for MawMaw, too. She enjoyed cutting the pictures of mommy and daddy and pasting them on a separate wreath.

Phone Call from Santa

Video from Santa

First Christmas Gift

Kaitlynn opened her first Christmas gift on Tuesday evening. It was from MawMaw Tommie. MawMaw Tommie gave it to Kaitlynn on Saturday, but with everything going on and being sick, she didn't open it until Tuesday.

Croup Again

Sunday evening, Kaitlynn woke up from a late nap with a barking cough. Sound familiar? Yeah, I think she has croup again. She had it right before Thanksgiving. I don't understand how my very healthy little girl went from hardly ever getting sick to being sick a lot. This year she has had an ear infection, several viruses, croup, stomach virus and now croup again. The only thing that has changed is that I am doing in-home childcare. But it's not like I have a house full of kids. I typically only have 1 child at a time, sometimes 2.

We are giving her children's Motrin and sitting in the bathroom frequently for the steam from the shower. I just hate seeing her not feeling well. I am really concerned with how often she has been sick lately. We need to purchase a new humidifier. We've never liked the one we purchased when she was first born. It's The First Years American Red Cross Cool Mist Humidifier. I just don't think it works and have never noticed a difference when we have used it.

I hope she is feeling better to enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Christmas Traditions' Santa Parade

Santa Parade

Storytelling at Berthold Square

After the parade, storytelling and lunch, Kaitlynn listened to a story from Mrs. Claus.

St. Charles' Christmas Traditions

Saturday Kaitlynn, Dave, MawMaw, Johanna and I met MawMaw Tommie in St. Charles for Christmas Traditions. This is an event we went to last year and we want to keep as a tradition. We walked around Main Street and went into the stores braving the cold weather. Kaitlynn collected the Character cards. We stopped for some coffee / hot chocolate and cookies. We took Kaitlynn to get her picture taken with the Victorian Santa and she freaked out. While in line she said she wanted to go home and that "this is ridiculous." I spent the next several minutes trying to get her to repeat herself for the camera, but of course she wouldn't. It was hilarious! I was kind of surprised that she was freaked out about that Santa because she didn't mind the other characters and santas. We watched the Santa Parade and then gathered at Berthold Square for story telling. We ate lunch at Lewis and Clark's. After lunch we walked around and went into more stores.

We had a great time until I was trying to rush Kaitlynn to the bathroom and twisted my ankle. What a spectacle! It was pretty much over from there, since it hurt to even walk on it.

Do You Flip?

I am getting to try out this Flip Video camcorder from I am having a blast with it. It is super easy to use and to download. I am in love with it.

I am quite a site now. Instead of just having my digital camera with me at all times, I know have this too. It's really funny when I try to use both (at the same time). Yeah, that's ridiculous, but I love pictures and videos. Always capturing little moments.

MLM Playdate at the Zoo - Wild Lights

Friday night Kaitlynn, MawMaw and I went to the Zoo for Wild Lights. It was night. Thankfully, I got to work inside at The Living World giving out gloves to the first 100 moms and mittens to the first 100 babies / toddlers. MawMaw and Kaitlynn participated in the Lowe's Build & Grow activities in The Living World. Kay Quinn was there to read stories to the kids.

Here is a video from the Zoo's website.

Little Tykes 2 - Let It Snow

Thursday, Dave and Kaitlynn attended her last Little Tykes 2 class. The theme was Let It Snow.
Kaitlynn's become quite the artist!
It's sad because this could very well be her last PCIP (Parent Child Interaction Program) class for 2 year olds!

We joined a Produce Co-op in our area from and received our first order. It was only a half order, but I think think we are going to like it. I can't believe how much stuff we got - mushrooms, apples, lettuce, jumbo carrots, zucchini, Roma tomatoes, bananas, grapefruit and tangerines.

Stomach Virus

Kaitlynn came down with the stomach virus late Monday night going into Tuesday morning. She had diarrhea and was vomiting. The vomiting lasted about 7 hours. I called the pediatrician's exchange and they said she isn't contagious when she is vomit free for 6 hours. They said the stomach virus usually lasts 12-24 hours. Tuesday the pediatrician's office called to check on her. I really like that they follow up on the calls to the exchange.

I came down with the stomach virus on Thursday. It seemed to last about 3 hours (at least the vomiting did). I was really hoping I wasn't going to get it because I was sanitizing like crazy.

Christmas Party

Monday the 14th, Kaitlynn and I met the playgroup at Yummy & Co bakery for our Christmas Party. Trisha and Kylie were the only ones who were able to come. Yummy & Co has a great area for the kids to play. Their cupcakes are super yummy and they have great coffee, too.

We brought cupcakes home for daddy and MawMaw. They really enjoyed them, too!

Santa at the Caboose

Sunday, December 13th, we took Kaitlynn to see Santa to get her picture with him. When we got there, she said she wanted to go home. We told her that she didn't have to see him if she didn't want to. We also told her that she should tell Santa what she wants for Christmas. She really wants a horse this year. She agreed to see him, but the whole time while waiting, she said she didn't like Santa. We just kept reassuring her and thankfully didn't have a long wait at all. There was one family in with Santa before us. Santa was so nice! He took his white gloves off to show Kaitlynn that he had hands like her. He talked to her and reassured her. She decided she would stand by him, but only with me next to her. Santa gave her a candy cane and she got a coloring book, too.

Afterwards, we took her to McDonald's to treat her to an ice cream cone.

Later that day, I wrapped Christmas presents.

Avon Recruits

Exciting news in regards to my Avon business / leadership. I signed up my 2nd recruit on Wednesday the 9th, 3rd recruit on Thursday the 10th, 4th recruit on Friday the 11th! I have more possible recruits that I am hoping to sign up before the end of the year.
Kaitlynn was being silly when Hanna, Adam and Amy were over on Thursday. Kaitlynn and Adam played while the rest of us did Avon stuff.

Little Tykes 2 - Nursery Rhymes

Thursday, December 10th, Kaitlynn and I attended Little Tykes 2 class. The theme was Nursery Rhymes. I love going to class with Kaitlynn. Her teacher, Sue, told the kids that they had a few minutes left to play before circle time. Kaitlynn put up what she was playing with and said she was ready for circle time. She grabbed my hand and guided me over to the circle to sit. Then during circle time, she was singing and clapping along to the songs. Another parent even mentioned how good Kaitlynn did with the welcome song.

MLM Baby Shower

Tuesday, December 8th, Kaitlynn, MawMaw and I went to Midrivers Mall to attend Robyn's baby shower with is following Robyn along during her pregnancy and hosted a baby shower with all gifts being donated to Crisis Nursery.

After the baby shower, we went to Children's Place. They had a great sale and Kaitlynn got some new wears (hat, purse and penguin). She also got some new sweaters and a matching scarf and pair of gloves.

Kaitlynn met her new boyfriend at the mall. She was obsessed with Kaden, until he left the mall. She hasn't talked about him since!

The video from Channel 5 won't embed, but here is a link.

Holiday Dinner and Meeting

Monday, December 7th, I attended the Avon Holiday Dinner and Meeting with my mom (who is a sub-seller) and my niece Hanna (who just signed up to sell Avon the Friday before).

We had a nice time and a good dinner. We ate, had a meeting and played bingo.

St. Nick's Day

This morning when Kaitlynn woke up, we reminded her about her stocking. She was excited to see what was in it.

This afternoon, while Kaitlynn was supposed to be taking a nap, she got into my stuff. She had the laptop out, painted her fingernails with a clear polish and took this picture.

Christmas Lights and St. Nick

Saturday evening on the way to MawMaw's, Kaitlynn and I were looking at Christmas lights and talking about how Christmas and the lights were all in celebration of Jesus' birth. We talked about how Christmas is Jesus' birthday. At one point, Kaitlynn started telling me she couldn't see. She said her eyes wouldn't open. When I looked back at her, she had her eyes closed. She is so silly. She opened them when I pointed out the next display of Christmas lights. In the car, we continued working on left and right and colors. She is pretty good at left and right and knows her colors. Dave met us at MawMaw's. After dinner, we drove around in St. Louis Hills looking at Christmas lights. They do such a great display on several of the streets / neighborhoods around there. We saw the lights on Candy Cane Lane and met Santa. Kaitlynn was freaked out and wanted to go home after seeing him. She is just so scared of him. One of the houses in the area, had a radio station set up to the lights display.

When we got home, Kaitlynn got her piece of candy out of the Christmas Countdown Calendar and then put her stocking out for St. Nick.

I wasn't sure if we were going to celebrate St. Nicholas' Day because I thought it was a Catholic tradition. I grew up Catholic and celebrated the day, but I do not consider myself Catholic anymore. We consider ourselves Christian, more specifically Presbyterian. In doing some research, I found out that it is in fact a Christian and German tradition. I am so excited to continue this tradition with Kaitlynn. When I was younger, I put my shoe outside my bedroom door. With Kaitlynn, we are using her stocking and put it in the hallway between the bedrooms. Can't wait for her to wake up and see what St. Nick brought her!

Super Excited

Friday Kaitlynn and I met Hanna and my Avon district manager to sign Hanna up to sell Avon. I am so excited to finally get started into Leadership. I have quite a few leads, about 10. I am super excited to get people signed up to start their own business. Avon is such a wonderful company and has an opportunity for everyone. It's a business that you can work as little or as much as you want. It's a business that you can do while working at another job. It is really what allowed me to be able to SAH for Kaitlynn's first 2 years. If anyone is looking for a way to make some extra money, please let me know. I would love to share my experience with you and talk to you about how you can start your own Avon business. If you're interested you can leave a comment or visit my Avon site and contact me that way.

New Friend Brittany

Kaitlynn and I went to Little Tykes 2 class on Thursday. The theme was dinosaurs. Kaitlynn likes dinosaurs, but was extremely tired. She didn't get a lot of sleep Wednesday night (because she refused to go to bed), but I thought it was important that she still attend class.
After class, we took MawMaw to an appointment and picked up lunch. Kaitlynn passed out in the car. She didn't take a long enough nap, though, because she was extremely crabby a few hours later. We visited a new local shopping center before going to MawMaw's.

We picked up a bunch of books, DVDs, and a CD from the library all pertaining to holidays, winter and Christmas. This will keep us busy for the next few days, at least.

These are Kaitlynn's Christmas pajamas from last year. They still fit, except are a lot too short. Kaitlynn loves this chipmunk (MawMaw bought it Wednesday night). When she forgets what the chipmunk's name is, she will call it her friend. It's so cute. Brittany is from Alvin & the Chipmunks 2, which is being released on December 23rd. She has been taking this thing everywhere. She bundles it up in her coat with her, she talks to it while she is playing, she sleeps with it. She makes it wave and swing on things. She has to put it in it's own seat when we are out. It sits with her while we are driving places. She loves this thing!

Kaitlynn was all bundled up for the yucky weather on Wednesday. It was so rainy and cold. We hung out with MawMaw and went to the grocery store and out to dinner. MawMaw spent the night. Kaitlynn was so wild, she refused to go to bed until late. She was just talking and playing in her room.

I received my new cell phone and love it so far. It's a touch screen. I wasn't so sure if I would like that type of phone, but I do so far.

Post for Madeleine

There's a new appeal for social networkers worldwide to post this video that shows what she would have looked like at age six. If you are a blogger, please help spread this message and post this video on your site.

Christmas Meme - Getting To Know You

I was tagged by Amanda at 'Manda Blogs About, who was tagged by Jen at Jael Custom Designs, who was tagged by Ivette at WAHM BAHM, who was tagged by Heather at Top Ten Christmas Blog to participate in her Christmas Meme.

1.) Have you started your Christmas shopping? Yes, but only gifts that I could purchase via my Avon business.

2.) Tell me about one of your special traditions. When I was younger we would put our shoe out for St. Nick on December 5th and would always go to my paternal grandma's on Christmas Eve. Obviously, some traditions have to change as you get older. My husband and I are looking to start new traditions with our daughter. I think we will start the tradition of putting her shoe out on December 5th for St. Nick.

3.) When do you put up your Tree? Usually the weekend of Thanksgiving. This year we put the tree up on Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving), but didn't finish decorating it until Saturday (after Thanksgiving).

4.) Are you a Black Friday shopper? I used to be, but haven't since having my daughter in February of 2007. However, this year we did purchase something online (on Thanksgiving) that was part of the Black Friday ads.

5.) Do you Travel at Christmas or Stay home? Our families live in the same state as us, thankfully. We did have to travel one Christmas before we got married for a wedding. We will never do that again!

6.) What is your funniest Christmas memory? The funniest memory, since being married, was when my husband and I bought each other the same gift. We each bought a pair of theater tickets to see Les Miserables.

7.) What is your favorite Christmas Movie of All time? I guess it would have to be National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

8.)Do you do your own Christmas Baking? What’s your favorite treat? Yes, I do some baking. I like to bake chocolate chip cookies with nuts in them.

9.) Fake or Real Tree? We have a 7 1/2ft tall fake tree.

10.) What day (as a Mom) does the actual panic set in to get it all done? I'm ashamed to say, the morning of the 24th. I'm a procrastinator.

11.) Are you still wrapping presents on Christmas Eve? Yes, a few odds and ends. Sometimes still buying gifts on that day. Told you I was a procrastinator.

12.) What is your favorite family fun time at Christmas? We do a lot of fun activities, some are just the 3 of us and some are with my family. We go to the Zoo for their Wild Lights event. We also go to Old St. Charles for their Christmas event. Definitely, Christmas morning is a plus with Kaitlynn. Watching her open gifts is always fun, but typically cut kind of short or hurried as we are trying to get ready to visit both sides of the family. This year should be more relaxed and enjoyable since we will just be visiting my family.

13.) What Christmas craft do you like the best? I don't really have a favorite yet, as last year was our first year to make crafts. We made a star ornament for the tree.

14.) Christmas music? Yes or No. And if yes, What is your favorite song? Yes, but not too early. I won't listen to it until after Thanksgiving. I love a lot of Christmas songs. My favorite Christmas CD is Josh Groban's Noel.

15.) When do you plan to finish all your shopping? Hopefully by the 23rd. I'm being realistic.

Any blogger is welcome to participate in this meme, even if you haven’t been tagged yet. Heather will go back and add your blog link to the list if you wanna play along.
Just simply copy and paste the questions into your blog, and then answer them.
Then tag 5 or more of your favorite blogs, and leave them a comment telling them they’ve been tagged.

When you post your blog, please spread some Christmas cheer, and leave a link back to Heather's Top Ten Christmas Blog, and the blog that you were tagged by which happens to be Moving On From the Drama.

December Begins

December already? Wow, this year has flown by! I have to say, I will be glad to put 2009 to bed.

For a week or so, we seemed to have a minor set back in potty training (which is completely normal). I think Kaitlynn is back on track now. She is even getting better with BMs on the potty. Today she told me it looked like a snake. Then said it looked like a turtle. What a funny little mind she has!

She also cracks me up when she talks about Frosty the Snowman. She calls him "Freaky"!

Tonight we watched "The Year Without A Santa Claus." Kaitlynn liked it. I look forward to watching other Christmas movies with her!

We received our first Christmas card today. It was from MawMaw Tommie.

Photo Shoot

This weekend we had a Christmas photo shoot at our house. Kaitlynn had 4 clothing changes and we took pictures in front of our tree (for the Christmas card). I was so excited because it seemed like we got some great pictures on Saturday. After I downloaded them to the laptop, I realized that we would not be able to use any of them. Apparently, we didn't wipe dinner off her face very well! Oops! We tried again Sunday. Kaitlynn was less patient, but we did get some good photos. Then we went to MawMaw's and she took a few family photos of us.

We went to Pasta House for dinner with MawMaw to celebrate her birthday (again). On the table was a list of people to purchase P.H. gift cards for and on the list was probation officer. I just couldn't believe it said probation officer. How random! I showed the waiter and he couldn't believe it either. We all had such a laugh. The rest of the people on the list were pretty normal, regular people in everyone's lives.

Monday, we ordered our Christmas photo cards and can't wait to get them. The previous years we have done photo cards, we have had them done at JcPenney's. This year we decided to take the pictures ourselves and order them online. I hope we like them.

I also ordered a new cell phone. It was time to upgrade. I can't wait to get it and hope I made the right choice in phones.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Christmas tree is completely decorated as well as decorations around the house. Now we have to work on the Christmas cards!

Little Tykes 2 - Fall Fun crafts

Happy Thanksgiving

We went to MawMaw's for Thanksgiving. I was in charge of making the dressing, so we had to get there early. We had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, rye bread, dinner rolls, pumpkin bread and pumpkin muffins. For dessert we had pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry pie and eclairs. Everything was so delicious!

We had such a great time we all ended up staying the night. We played Truth or Dare on the i-phone. That was a lot of fun. We mostly did the dares, but learned some things about each other, that we probably didn't want to know.

For an open dare, Hanna had to sing "You are my sunshine."

Thanksgiving Baking and Christmas Tree

Saturday night, Kaitlynn slept pretty good. She had one episode where we had to take her into the bathroom and run hot water to steam the room. She had another episode Sunday morning, but instead of sitting in a steamy bathroom, she wanted to take a shower. Her voice started to sound a little better.

Sunday we cleaned the master bedroom and moved the furniture around. I like changing things up.

Sunday night, she had a harder time sleeping. She just didn't want to go to sleep. But Sunday, she was up playing like normal. That's the thing with croup, she is fine during the day (except maybe a coughing spell), but at night it's worse. It's crazy because as it starts to get later in the day, we can hear it in her little voice.

Monday, since she was doing better, we went to my mom's and got some baking done.
We baked pumpkin bread muffins and 2 pumpkin bread bundt cakes.

Wednesday after the babies (I watch) went home, I cleaned the front room really well so Dave and Kaitlynn could put up the Christmas tree.

Scary Morning at the ER

As I said in my previous post, we were out pretty late for MawMaw's birthday. After we left MawMaw's to come home, Kaitlynn started swallowing hard, choking and gagging in the car. It lasted about a minute, then was fine. She fell asleep in the car shortly after that. We got home, put her to bed and she slept for about an hour. She woke up screaming and crying, swallowing hard, gagging, choking and seemed to be having a hard time breathing. We weren't really sure about the breathing thing, her color was fine, and she was crying, so she had to be breathing OK, right? It was just so scary. We called the pediatrician's exchange and a nurse called us back immediately. She heard Kaitlynn over the phone and said she sounded like she was very uncomfortable and we needed to bring her in for a chest x-ray. Her concern was she might have swallowed something that she wasn't supposed to. We got to the ER and were put in a room pretty quickly. A nurse checked her out and she seemed to be doing better. She said they were very busy and it would take awhile for a doctor to come in. Thankfully they had movies to keep her busy. We watched "Cinderella". We waited a little over an hour before the doctor was able to see us. At this point, Kaitlynn was ready to go home. The doctor checked her out and ordered a chest x-ray. Thankfully no foreign bodies were found in the x-ray, but they suspected that she had croup. The doctor said the x-ray wasn't the most clear cut case of croup she'd ever seen, but all of Kaitlynn's symptoms really seemed to point to croup. They gave her a dose of steroids and Motrin and gave us information on croup and what to look for, etc. The doctor said she was concerned that it might turn into pneumonia because every time we asked Kaitlynn where she hurt, she would pointing to her lower back and tell us her back hurt. We are confused as to how she got croup, but thankful that it wasn't anything more serious.

Here is a video I took while waiting for the doctor. Kaitlynn was annoyed with me asking her questions because she was watching "Cinderella." I think she did great at the ER, especially on so little sleep and to not be feeling well. What a trooper!

Kaitlynn's pediatrician called that afternoon to check on her. When I called back, I actually got to talk to her pediatrician. It was reassuring to talk to her. She said croup could last up to 5 days.

MawMaw's Birthday Dinner

I set up a surprise birthday dinner for MawMaw Friday the 20th. We went to dinner at Pietros (Denise's suggestion). It worked out really well. Everyone (Denise, Dan, Brandon, Hanna, Adam, Jim, Trina, Nate and Sissy) showed up on time. Then we came in with MawMaw and Jeff a little later. As we were walking in, MawMaw said, "Don't you think we should've made reservations." Little did she know that we already had reservations and everyone was already there!

We had a great dinner and went back to MawMaw's afterwards.

We stayed out a little too late, but enjoyed the family time.

Clip Ons

Thursday the 19th, Kaitlynn, MawMaw and I attended Little Tykes 2. The theme was fall fun. They made a lot of crafts for Thanksgiving. We are so happy to display Kaitlynn's art around the house!

Later that evening, Kaitlynn had fun with her jewelry. She tried on her clip-on earrings.

Ladies' Night

Hanna came over and gave Kaitlynn her second haircut. She just trimmed it up. Kaitlynn did a good job letting Hanna cut it.

I went to Ladies' Night at The Melting Pot with producer Heather and the Discussion Leaders. I don't think I mentioned that I am a DL on the website again. I did it last year around this time. It's a lot of fun. I really like the other DLs, too. We had such a fun night out.

Hooked on Books

The 16th, we took Kaitlynn to the pediatrician for a follow-up from her visit on October 29th. The pediatrician said she probably had a UTI and it was nothing to worry about. They did another urinalysis and said it appeared to be fine, but would send it to the lab.

The 17th, we picked up MawMaw and went to the ECC for Hooked on Books and the Book, Puppet and Toy Fair. Kaitlynn made some pretty neat books at Hooked on Books. I can't believe it was a free class. I'll have to post pictures of some of the books she made. She made at least 7 books!

Saturday the 15th, we met MawMaw and MawMaw Tommie for dinner at Applebee's. Kaitlynn's cousin Maribeth sent along a bunch of Barbie dolls, Barbie movies and other toys for her. Kaitlynn is really getting into Barbie dolls. She was so excited when she saw the Barbie suitcase and that it was full of Barbies (and 1 Ken doll). She lined up all her Barbies (minus the Ken doll and Ariel doll) on her bed before she could go to sleep that night.

The Girls

Kaitlynn enjoys playing with the neighbor girls, Mya and Leah. She gets so excited when she sees them outside.

Friday the 13th, we went to The Mills Mall for Santa's arrival. Kaitlynn is in the Kidgits Club. We met Frosty, Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus. The Muny Kids performed. We also stayed for the lighting of the Salvation Army tree. We won one of the attendance prizes, too!

It was pretty cool - Santa arrived on a firetruck! Kaitlynn didn't want to get near Santa or Frosty. After we left, she said she forgot to give Frosty a hug. She rode on the train and the carousel at the mall.

Little Tykes 2

Kaitlynn attended Little Tykes 2 class at the ECC on Thursday November 12th. She enjoyed the class. The theme was transportation. She made some really cute artwork.

This is her second time in this particular class. She took it last Spring, but has a different teacher.

Meeting Baby Bea

Wednesday, November 11th Kaitlynn, Olivia and I went visit Emily and Ella and meet Baby Bea. Baby Bea is beautiful and Emily looks great. Ella is such a good big sister.

Since our visit, Kaitlynn asks about Baby Bea almost everyday. She will also "call" Emily to ask when we can visit again.

Kaitlynn cracks me up with the things she comes up with. A few weeks ago, she told Hanna that she couldn't go outside because "a bird will poop in my eye."

Fall Fun

Saturday November 7th, Kaitlynn had a great time outside playing in the leaves.

Butterfly Kisses

Celebrating our wedding anniversary, made me think of my dad. I am so thankful that he was able to walk me down the aisle.

Bob Carlisle - Butterfly Kisses

There's two things I know for sure:
She was sent here from heaven and she's
daddy's little girl.
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night
She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes and
I thank god for all the joy in my life
Oh, but most of all
For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer;
sticking little white flowers all up in her
hair; "Walk beside the pony, Daddy, it's my first ride."
"I know the cake looks funny, Daddy, but I sure tried."
In all that I've done wrong I know I must
have done something right to deserve a hug
every morning and butterfly kisses at night.

Sweet 16 today
She's looking like her mama a little more everyday
One part woman, the other part girl.
To perfume and make-up from ribbons and curls
Trying her wings out in a great big world.

But I remember
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer; sticking
little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you, Daddy, But if you
don't mind I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time."
With all that I've done wrong I must have done
something right to deserve her love every morning
and butterfly kisses at night.

All the precious time
Like the wind, the years go by.
Precious butterfly.
Spread your wings and fly.

She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride-room just staring at her.
She asked me what I'm thinking and I said "I'm not
sure-I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl."
She leaned over...gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there,
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk my down the aisle, Daddy-it's just about time."
"Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don't cry!"

Oh, with all that I've done wrong I must have
done something right.
To deserve your love every morning and butterfly
kisses-I couldn't ask God for more, man this is what love is.

I know I gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses.

At Last - Through the Years of Our Love

This is a bond that will never be broken.
From Wedding

At Last Lyrics by Etta James

At last, my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Oh, yeah, at last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clovers
The night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Oh, yeah when you smile, you smile
Oh, and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine
At last

Happy 5th Anniversary

Friday, November 6th was our 5th wedding anniversary. We spent the day with Kaitlynn, MawMaw, and MawMaw Tommie. That evening MawMaw watched Kaitlynn so we could go out. We had a great time.

33 Month Evaluation

Thursday, November 5th Kaitlynn's P.A.T. educator came over for a visit. During her visit, she completed a 33 month evaluation on Kaitlynn. She did excellent. She scored very high in all areas. Yeah, Kaitlynn!

We took MawMaw to an appointment with another oral surgeon. Hopefully this one will be able to find out what is going on with MawMaw and be able to correct it. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Hello November

November already! Wow, time does fly. Wednesday, November 4th Kaitlynn attended her last Kids in the Kitchen class. The theme was Eggs-travaganza. They made french toast, dinosaur eggs, egg boats, orange julius and banana popsicles.

That evening, Kaitlynn and I went to dinner with MawMaw and Kaitlynn kept calling me her sister. We attended a class at the ECC called Songs, Stories and Sillies. Kaitlynn had so much fun in this class. She danced around the room, sang and really participated. This one was geared towards older kids and was able to keep her interested as opposed to the one we attended last month (that she didn't really participate in).

On Halloween, we went to Michael's so Kaitlynn could make a craft with the kid's club (The Knack). She made a super cute little spider. We headed home and got ready for our Halloween party. Dave and Kaitlynn made Halloween rice krispie treats, then Kaitlynn decorated her pumpkins. We went out trick or treating and had fun with our guests. Kaitlynn passed out and the adults continued to party until the wee hours of the morning. We had a fun Halloween!

Halloween Fun Fair

Friday October 30th, we went to the ECC for a Halloween Fun Fair. Kaitlynn made a treat bag, trick or treated at different "houses", had a pony painted on her hand, listened to a Halloween story, ate dinner, played games, decorated a cookie (graham cracker), and had a great time.

Costume Party and Pumpkin Carving

Thursday October 29th, we went with Olivia and Aidan to the Mommy and Toddler Playgroup's Costume Party at Kangaroo Kids. Emily and Ella met us there. We brought Halloween cupcakes to share and Emily brought goodies bags to share. It was great seeing Emily and getting to spend time with her and Ella before her due date (November 3rd).

Kaitlynn wore her Happy Feet costume and Ella wore a bear costume. Olivia and Aidan didn't wear costumes.

While at Kangaroo Kids, Kaitlynn started complaining about her vagina hurting (and she was telling everyone). We called her pediatrician and she was able to see her almost immediately. It was quite an experience getting Kaitlynn to pee in a cup, but she did it. I actually just told her that the doctor needed it so that she could figure out what was wrong. Once she knew that, she peed in the cup. The pediatrician said it's probably a bladder infection, but would send it to the lab.

That evening, we carved 2 of our 5 pumpkins and made caramel apples. Kaitlynn had fun putting sprinkles on her caramel apple. She was als a big help with scooping the "guts" out of the pumpkins.

Halloween Treats and Baked Goodies

Wednesday October 28th, Kaitlynn attended her Kids in the Kitchen class. The theme was Halloween Treats. They made mummies in a blanket, magic wands, witches hats, moonlight milkshake, monster mash and shaky pudding. She also made this cute pumpkin picture. She cut out the eyebrows all by herself.
From Drop Box

Kaitlynn and I went to MawMaw's and baked a cake, cupcakes and an apple pie.

MawMaw made Kaitlynn a special hot chocolate that he really enjoyed.

Costume Party at the Zoo

Monday October 26th, we bought a new laptop. Thank goodness because our old one was possessed!

Tuesday, we attended a MomsLikeMe playdate costume party at the Zoo.

Kay Quinn read a Halloween story to the kids and then we all went into Zoomagination Station. Kaitlynn had a good time, but was disappointed that she didn't get to see any animals due to the rain.

Afterwards we took Kaitlynn to McDonald's to play at the playland.

Stuckmeyer's Farm

Sunday October 25th, we went to Stuckmeyer's with MawMaw. Hanna, Adam and Brandon met us there. Kaitlynn couldn't wait for them to get there.

Kaitlynn played in the sandbox, rode a pony, played at Fort Spooky, and ran around. She fell off a wagon and got a bump on her forehead.

Spooky Saturday and Boo at the Zoo

Saturday, October 24th we went to Spooky Saturday at the Zoo. Kaitlynn wore her Happy Feet costume and trick or treated around the Zoo. We went into the Children's Zoo and then met up with Trisha and Kylie. We went through River's Edge, ate lunch, did some crafts and then met the costumed characters (hippo, tiger, penguin, frog and bear). Kaitlynn cracked us up. She said that the tiger's tail touched her vagina. It was so funny the way she told us and her reaction to it. I guess as the tiger was walking past his tail must have hit her. We walked in the costume parade and listened to music for the end of Spooky Saturday.

We stayed for Boo at the Zoo. Hanna, Adam and Brandon met us at the Lakeside Cafe. Kaitlynn took a nap between the end of Spooky Saturday and beginning of Boo at the Zoo. She did some crafts, ate ice cream, rode the carousel and went to the Children's Zoo.

Afterwards, we ate a late dinner at Steak n Shake.

New Do and Not So Haunted House

Friday October 23rd, I basically spent all afternoon at Johanna's beauty school. She highlighted and cut my hair and waxed my eyebrows. My hair (color) is a pretty drastic change, I think.
From Drop Box

That evening we went with MawMaw to The Magic House for their Not So Haunted House. Kaitlynn had fun going around and getting autographs. She enjoyed climbing on the bean stalk, having a drink and snack at the snack shop and playing in the Curious George exhibit (oh and getting candy). That is until she got bit. Yeah, you read that correctly. We were in the Curious George exhibit and Kaitlynn was on the rocket ship that is also a slide. This little girl (around Kaitlynn's age) climbed up the steps, grabbed Kaitlynn's face and bit her on the forehead. I started yelling at the girl's mom that her daughter was biting my daughter and to get her as I was trying to get Kaitlynn away from the little girl. Kaitlynn was freaked out. She has never had anyone do that before. I think she was in shock. I was furious! I think I handled the situation as well as I could. I was so ticked off. If Kaitlynn was a biter, I would not let her play in that close contact with other kids. This little girl should not have been there, she just got done hitting another little girl. The mom talked to the little girl, but I think she should have made her leave. That is ridiculous! Thankfully she didn't break the skin, but it came close. You could see blood under the skin on Kaitlynn's forehead.

After that, we went to Taco Bell to get some quick food and calm down (and make sure Kaitlynn was OK). Kaitlynn had to use the bathroom and slipped on water on the bathroom floor. She got a big goose egg on the back of her head. The Taco Bell workers didn't even ask if she was OK. They just gave us a bag of ice for her head (because we asked for one). Businesses are so rude anymore. Kaitlynn was pretty much done after that. My poor baby girl had one hell of a night. I was pretty much done, too. If one more thing happened to my child, someone was going to be sorry!

Cooking Class

Wednesday, the 21st Kaitlynn attended her Kids in the Kitchen class. The theme was Eating Like Bears / Bear Wants More. She made a tuna melt, salad, chocolate milk, cinnamon rolls and strawberry shortcake. She is always so excited when she comes home from class. She can't wait to tell me about it.

I wasn't feeling well starting Monday evening after eating CiCi's. By Wednesday, I was really feeling bad. MawMaw came out to help with Kaitlynn and spent the night.

Thank God for her and all of her help!

Visit to Elementary School

Tuesday the 20th, we visited our local elementary school. It was actually not worth going because it wasn't really geared towards us. I thought it would be about the local preschool, but it was more for kids entering kindergarten. I wish our P.A.T. educator and the ECC would have explained that. Oh well! At least we did get to see another option for preschool (as there is a one there) and visit the rest of the school.

For lunch, Kaitlynn made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She did a really good job with it. I think the Kids in the Kitchen class has really helped her.

CiCi's and the 3 L's

Monday the 19th, we went to CiCi's Pizza for dinner with MawMaw. The food was not great, but I liked that there was a place to eat so that you could view the game room. Kaitlynn wasn't into eating, but had fun in the game room.

We attended Love, Laughter and Limits at the ECC. It is really a great class. I feel we are learning some really valuable parenting techniques.

Pumpkin Jamboree and Haunted Hayloft

Sunday the 18th, we went with my mom to the Grafton Eckert's. The drive was beautiful. As we were picking apples, Kaitlynn told me to "Stop taking my picture. I love you too much." She also kept saying "I don't know" and "I have a question." She just cracks us up. She is always coming up with something new.

Then we met my niece Hanna and her boyfriend Adam at Purina Farms for the Haunted Hayloft. We didn't get to see much as they were already starting to close things down. I wish they would have told us that before we paid for parking. We got to see the tail end of the dog show, walk through the barn and that was it. It wasn't worth the drive out there or the $5 it cost to park.

We ended up going out to dinner afterwards. Kaitlynn has really started to like Adam. On the way home, she was pretending to talk to him on the phone. She asked him to come over to her house to see her turtle. Then she asked him if he has a brother or a sister.

Here is a video from apple picking at Eckert's.
