Zoo Parents Picnic

Sunday the 19th, we went to the early service at church. Didn't think that would ever happen! The Organic Christianity series continued with a "look at why experiencing worship of God is a vital element to maturing our faith." Kaitlynn attended and enjoyed her class.

Thankfully the rain stopped so that we could attend the Zoo Parents Picnic Zootennial Celebration. We adopted a King Penguin for Kaitlynn for her birthday / Valentine's Day in February of this year and we also adopted an Amur Tiger a few months ago. Kaitlynn was excited that she was able to ride in one of the Zoo's strollers. We got a free rental. We went to the bird house and then big cat country.
Looking at the tigers. You can hear Kaitlynn doing her karate. She has really been into karate kicking, chopping, etc in the last few months. She might have picked it up from SpongeBob.
We were treated to a Sea Lion show and a train ride. They also gave us free soft drinks all day. Kaitlynn fell asleep shortly after the train ride.
We saw the Orangutans enrichment - pinatas were put in their "homes" for them to find and open. Inside were nuts and fruits for them to eat. Unfortunately Kaitlynn was still sleeping during this time.

After Kaitlynn woke up, we pet the stingrays and then Kaitlynn rode the carousel (which were also complimentary).

We went through River's Edge and got to visit the Orthwein Animal Nutrition Center and the Veterinary Hospital and Research Center (which are both normally closed to the public). We had a fun and educational time!

After the Zoo, we visited MawMaw.

Monday the 20th, I watched Max. Kaitlynn, Max and I went to Monday Makeover at church. There were 4 of us scheduled so we got done pretty quickly. Kaitlynn had fun because there were 2 other kids for her to play with (2 of the ladies didn't bring kids with them).

After getting home and Max being picked up, Kaitlynn and I were just relaxing when I noticed a car stopped in front of our house and the passenger was taking pictures of our house. The driver and passenger were older and were dressed extremely casual. I went outside to ask them what they were doing, but they drove away. I wrote down their license plate number in case anything happened and because I thought it was weird. Then I was putting 2 of our dogs in a crate and they got into a huge dog fight and took down the crate. It was so surreal. Eventually I was able to get them to calm down. I took Kaitlynn to Circle K to get a frozen drink. I couldn't get any of the machines to work. None of the lights were on indicating that they were out, so I asked one of the workers. He was able to find one that worked well enough and said it had to do with the temperature outside and the set temperature of the machines. It was such a weird hour!

Dave, Kaitlynn and I went to the pediatrician's office to get our flu vaccinations. Kaitlynn received the mist and we received the shot. She did really well with the mist, but thought we were crazy when we were demonstrating to her how to breath it in through her nose. My arm was sore and bruised for a few days.

Kaitlynn and I went by Trader Joe's to purchase some snacks and then came home for naps. Later we made Cheesy Spinach Treats from the July High Five magazine. MawMaw has those magazines sent to Kaitlynn.
They were delicious!
