Snowpocalypse and 14 Weeks

Tuesday, February 1st, dance class was canceled, as well as preschool. We had snow and ice, so we were "snowed in". Kaitlynn took her last dose of eye drops. I thankfully did not have a headache, so didn't have to take any medicine! I also felt the baby moving, which of course was very cool! That afternoon we found out that Kaitlynn didn't have preschool the next day. I finished updating Kaitlynn's totsite to August 2010 and the baby's totsite. Dave set up Kaitlynn's Barbie Dream Townhouse and she loves it. She played with it all afternoon. Dave set up his fundraising site for the half marathon he is running with a team at church. The money is for Living Water International. Wednesday, the 2nd, we stayed home due to the snow. My headache returned (but was able to cope with just using Tylenol). I also had a hot flash and nausea. PhotobucketPhotobucketI ordered Valentine's cards from VistaPrint that are photo cards, but on card stock. These are for Kaitlynn's school friends and other special friends and family. That evening, we found out that Kaitlynn didn't have preschool again the next day. A whole week without preschool and pretty much stuck in the house! Thursday, the 3rd, we had planned on attending dance class to make up the one missed a few weeks back, but when we got there the studio was closed. I had checked the website before we left that morning and class was supposed to be on. Another parent and his child (from Kaitlynn's regular class) showed up too. Apparently no one from the Thursday class was able to come so they canceled it last minute. We came back home and I reorganized the kitchen. Then we met Tia, Annabelle and Alayna at McDonald's. Kaitlynn and I ate lunch and then they came so the girls could play. McDonald's was the hot spot that day as it was pretty packed. Kaitlynn and Annabelle played for 4 hours, then we went to MawMaw's and ran some errands. Kaitlynn and I would have lost our minds if we had to stay in the house 1 more day! My headache came back to bother me! PhotobucketFriday, the 4th, marked 14 weeks. Hello second trimester! According to Babycenter, the baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his/her thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, the facial muscles are getting a workout as his/her tiny features form one expression after another. The kidneys are producing urine, which releases into the amniotic fluid around the baby — a process the baby will keep up until birth. He/she can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him/her sucking his thumb. The baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, the baby measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. The body's growing faster than the head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, the arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of the body. (The legs still have some lengthening to do.) The baby's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over the body. The baby's liver starts making bile — a sign that it's doing its job right — and the spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. The hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active. Kaitlynn and I went to MawMaw's. MawMaw had an appointment to go to. After the appointment, Dave met us at the hair salon and him, Kaitlynn and MawMaw got their hair cut. Actually Kaitlynn just got a bang trim. PhotobucketI had them actually section out bangs, instead of them going so far back. No other hair dresser has ever done this, even when I have asked. They would just say her bangs were fine. Afterwards, we went to Target and I got some great deals on Pampers diapers and wipes. I had Target coupons, plus Pampers coupons and the diapers and wipes were on clearance. We decided to start purchasing diapers and wipes now so that we won't have to buy them or worry about them later. I made a "spreadsheet" of how many diapers in each size we will need. Currenly we are purchasing newborn and size 1 diapers. My headache continued. Will it ever go away completely? Saturday, the 5th, Kaitlynn was supposed to start her Start Smart (sports class), but it was canceled due to the weather. Swim was also canceled. We decided to do a make up dance class. Mrs. B taught the class because the regular teacher had a funeral. It is a large class. The parents said there are normally 13 girls in the class. They have an assistant help the teacher because of the class size. There were only 7 girls in the class this particular week and 1 of the girls was from Kaitlynn's regular class. I am so thankful for Kaitlynn's small class. 13 3-4 year olds trying to learn dance sounds like chaos to me! We came home and I took a nap after lunch. I still had a headache. Kaitlynn did Valentine's artwork - she painted foam hearts for her teachers, mommy, daddy, MawMaw, grandma and Aunt Neese. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket Sunday, the 6th, we attended church. Our series, "Life Audacious" continued as we looked at Paul's letter to the Phillipians and how it demands we live our life differently. PhotobucketKaitlynn attended her class too, where they learned that "Jesus loves when we share." They heard the story of the little boy who shared his lunch (Matthew 14:14-21, Mark :35-44, Luke 9:12-17, John 6:5-14). My headache raged on. It was "managed" by either Tylenol or the prescription med, it just kept coming back. I also had hot flashes and nausea. Kaitlynn added stickers to some of the Valentine's hearts she painted the day before and painted some paper lace hearts. Later that evening, before bed, Kaitlynn started coughing. Baby had the hiccups, too.
