16 Weeks

Friday, February 18th, marked 16 weeks. According to Babycenter, the baby's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. The legs are much more developed, the head is more erect than it has been, and the eyes have moved closer to the front of the head. The ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of the scalp has begun, though his/her locks aren't recognizable yet. The baby's even started growing toenails. The heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as the baby continues to develop. Photobucket This was 1 of the make up snow days for preschool. It was weird and kind of nice that Kaitlynn had school 4 days this week. I used the time while she was in school, to pick up MawMaw and then get last minute stuff for Kaitlynn's birthday party. I couldn't believe her birthday party was that weekend (already)! MawMaw and I picked Kaitlynn up from school. The daily schedule said they read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom," had a letter show in the block center where each child revealed their letter, went outside to play on the playground, in music sang / listened to "BINGO" and did yoga (bumble bee breath). Kaitlynn fell asleep in the car, as we were driving MawMaw to an appointment. Saturday, the 19th, Kaitlynn missed her Start Smart class because we both woke up late. We did make it to swim class. Afterwards, we went to MawMaw's because we were supposed to get manis/pedis for her birthday, but Kaitlynn was having a hard to listening, so she lost the privilege. We went to church. We continued the series, "Life Audacious", where we explored what Paul had to say about his Savior, Jesus. PhotobucketKaitlynn attended her class, where she learned "Jesus loves when we help." They read the story of the little boy who shared his lunch (Matthew 14:15-21, Mark 6:35-44, Luke 9:12-17, John 6:5-14) Afterwards, we went to Chesterfield Mall to get Kaitlynn a birthday girl shirt, had to pick up some stuff from Target and Walmart too. At bedtime, I read "Tangled: Kingdom of Color" to Kaitlynn.

Valentine's Day, 21st Week of Dance and 24th Week of Preschool

Monday, February 14th was obviously Valentine's Day. Kaitlynn and I spent the day together, then we went to MawMaw's because she had an appointment to go to. MawMaw watched Kaitlynn while I attended the last Sacred Romance class. Tuesday, the 15th, Kaitlynn had dance class. She took Ms. Julie the foam heart she painted for her and we also put candy in a cute little Valentine jar. After dance, we ate lunch and got ready for preschool. Kaitlynn took her teachers the foam hearts she painted for them and a Valentine's jar with candy for each. We received a calendar in regards to the make up snow days. Kaitlynn's class will make up 2 days on 2 Fridays. PhotobucketKaitlynn's stop sign was sent home because they took down the artwork in the hall to put up artwork for "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom." The stop sign was from a different book they read a few months back. Dave and I both came up for Kaitlynn's Valentine's Party at preschool. We brought the Valentine's cups, napkins and a craft. We made stained glass hearts - with wax paper, crayon shavings and an iron. PhotobucketPutting her Valentine's cards in her classmates' Valentine's bags. Hanna watched Kaitlynn at MawMaw's so Dave and I could celebrate Valentine's Day. We went to Chuy Arzola's for dinner and then to see Black Swan. Black Swan was not my type of movie. Wednesday, the 16th, I woke up with a sore throat, a headache and an ear ache. Kaitlynn prepared for preschool and we packed snack (vanilla yogurt and cheez-its). One of Kaitlynn's teachers sent her a thank you home for the Valentine's gift. The daily schedule said they read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom," used letter builders to create capital and lower case letters, painted with letter stamps, went outside and in music sang / listened to "BINGO." Kaitlynn took a nap in the car. We went to MawMaw's where she continued to nap. It was a beautiful 72 degree day! I ended the evening with heartburn. Thursday, the 17th, I woke up with a headache and had to take the prescribed medicine. When Dave was leaving for work, Kaitlynn said "Looking good daddy!" So cute! Later that morning, Kaitlynn was pretending to call the police on me to take me to jail, so I told her I was going to call them on her too. She said she would miss my eyelashes and comfy arms. I don't know what her deal is with my eyelashes lately. That afternoon, Kaitlynn prepared for preschool and we packed her snack (apple and goldfish). When we got to her classroom, she "read" a book to Dave and me - it was "Pete the Cat." I couldn't believe that she remember all the words on the pages. Amazing! The daily schedule said they learned a new yoga pose - the boat, they practiced a fire drill. played with moon sand, made letters by rolling play dough, played outside on the playground and in music sang / listened to "BINGO" and "ABC Rock." Photobucket When I picked Kaitlynn up, she was so excited to show me the moon sand. Kaitlynn took a nap after preschool. She has been so tired after school lately.

15 Weeks and Birthdays

Friday, February 11th marked 15 weeks. According to Babycenter, the baby measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). The baby's busy moving amniotic fluid through the nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in the lungs begin to develop. The legs are growing longer than the arms now, and he/she can move all of his/her joints and limbs. Although the eyelids are still fused shut, the baby can sense light. There's not much for the baby to taste at this point, but he/she is forming taste buds. Photobucket PhotobucketPhotobucketKaitlynn and I baked Dave triple chocolate muffins and lemon cake with homemade lemon icing (and sprinkles) for his bday. We used a Valentine's Day bundt silicone pan for the lemon cake. Kaitlynn and I went to MawMaw's to take her to an appointment. On the way there, Kaitlynn fell asleep. While MawMaw was in the appointment, I went to get gas and sprained / twisted my left ankle at the gas station. What a way to start my birthday weekend off! We had dinner for Dave's birthday at Outback Steakhouse. So yum! Kaitlynn just had to wear her princess glass slippers to dinner. She, again, was the entainment at dinner - dancing at the table! PhotobucketPhotobucket PhotobucketLater Kaitlynn helped bake and ice Valentine's cookies. Saturday, the 12th, Kaitlynn had her first Start Smart class. They worked on soccer skills and basketball skills. Afterwards, Kaitlynn had swim class. We attended the Disney On Ice Skate Party at Webster Groves Ice Arena. Kaitlynn dressed as Cinderella. She made a Valentine to donate to an area senior and got a complimentary voucher for Disney on Ice. This was her first time ice skating and she loved it! It brought such a smile to my face to see her loving it so much! Some girl who started ice skating at a young age was giving Kaitlynn some pointers. PhotobucketMy little Princess Cinderella ice skater! After ice skating, Kaitlynn decided to make another Valentine - to bring home. We talked to some girls who were on an ice skating team and they gave us some information on joining. Photobucket Kaitlynn told me that we couldn't celebrate my birthday the next day because she was tired of it! Silly girl! After Kaitlynn went to bed, Dave and I watched "Social Network." I did not like this movie at all. Enough said! Sunday, the 13th, was my 33rd birthday. For some silly reason, I woke up at 4AM and couldn't go back to sleep right away. Dave and Kaitlynn gave me breakfast in bed, beautiful red tulips and lovely birthday cards! Best compliments of the day: Kaitlynn said my hair looked pretty and that I looked pretty with my eyebrows! OK! I received lots of birthday wishes via facebook and text and really appreciated that warm birthday wishes. PhotobucketMy tulips and birthday cards PhotobucketKaitlynn in her Valentine's outfit We attended church. The series, "Life Audacious" continued with a message on pride. PhotobucketPhotobucketKaitlynn attended her class, where they learned "Jesus loves when we give. We can give hugs." They heard the story of the little boy who shared his lunch (Matthew 14:15-21, Mark 6:35-44, Luke 9:12-17, John 6:5-14). PhotobucketThat evening we went to dinner at Macaroni Grill with my family (just MawMaw and Jeff). It was quite an eventful dinner. Kaitlynn poked Jeff in the eye with a pen and oh my how that had to hurt. It was an accident. Fire trucks and paramedics were there, not for Jeff, but for another person at the restaurant. Kaitlynn enjoyed looking at the fire truck. I was serenaded with "Happy Birthday" in Italian. PhotobucketKaitlynn took this picture of Dave and me. PhotobucketPhotobucket

20th Week of Dance and 23rd Week of Preschool

Monday, February 7th, Kaitlynn's coughing continued. We picked MawMaw up from work. Kaitlynn fell asleep in the car on the way there. We went to a new resell it shop called Carousel Kids, just to check it out. I bought a maternity top. We took MawMaw to an appointment, then had dinner. MawMaw watched Kaitlynn while I attended Sacred Romance. We are supposed to be in our 5th week of meeting, but because of the weather have only had 3 classes, 1 of which I had to miss (due to 1 car being in the shop). Tuesday, the 8th, Kaitlynn was still coughing a little. She attended Dance class. She was being a little difficult for her teacher. But I guess we all have those days! After dance, we came home, ate lunch and prepared for preschool. Kaitlynn chose strawberry banana yogurt and cheez-its for her snack. PhotobucketKaitlynn got her Scholastics book order back. The next Scholastics flyers came home and we get to pick out a free book since 1 of the books we ordered didn't come in. Cool! After I dropped her off at preschool, I met Dave at the ob for an appointment and ultrasound. The ultrasound showed I still had ovarian cysts - 3 on the right side and 1 on the left. They are getting smaller though, so that's good. The baby measured right on track and the heart rate was 135. I was so happy to see the baby and couldn't believe how big he/she had gotten since January! Unfortunately, the miscarriage from last summer is still in the back of my mind and so it is so reassuring to actually see the baby is doing so well. PhotobucketPhotobucket PhotobucketI picked Kaitlynn up from school after the appointment. The February Newsletter was sent home. The classrooms have a wish list and are asking for donations. We selected to bring Valentine's stickers, index cards and envelopes. Later we met Hanna, Brandon, MawMaw and Adam for dinner. I noticed at the restaurant that Kaitlynn's cheeks were red. They were still red when we got to MawMaw's house after dinner. I thought it might be due to how cold it was outside. I read 2 of Kaitlynn's new books to her at bedtime - "The Day It Rained Hearts" and "Love, Splat." I checked on Kaitlynn as she was sleeping and noticed her cheeks were still red. Dave and I googled red cheeks in preschoolers and Fifth Disease came up. We read the information and it seemed like a possibility. We also read that it could cause complications to the baby if I have not been in contact with it previously and built up an immunity. Oh great! I was freaking out for Kaitlynn and for baby. Wednesday, the 9th, Kaitlynn's checks were not as red. In fact, her left side was red at all and the right side was just a little red. I called the pediatrician's office and they said they couldn't tell me for sure if she had Fifth Disease over the phone. They also said that it is usually a lacey type appearance on the body too. Kaitlynn did not have redness anywhere else, wasn't running a fever and wasn't itching. The nurse said just to keep an eye on her and she couldn't be sure if she was contagious or not. I called my ob's office and told them about the possibility of being in contact with Fifth Disease. They had me go in for blood work that day. It was just a waiting game at that point. We obviously decided not to send Kaitlynn to school. At bedtime, Kaitlynn and I read 2 more of her new books - "Going On A Bear Hunt" and "Happy Valentine's Day Mouse." Thursday, the 10th, I attended my Women's Group. Dave took Kaitlynn to school. We decided it was OK for her to return to school since she was no longer red and had never ran a fever. Kaitlynn and Dave packed her snack - strawberry banana yogurt and cheez-its. While Kaitlynn was in school, I picked up MawMaw. We ran some errands and I purchased the Wish List items for Kaitlynn's school plus the cups and napkins for the Valentine's party. We picked Kaitlynn up from preschool. The daily schedule said they finished reading "The Jolly Postman," learned the warrior pose in yoga, made heart prints using ink, played in the gym and in music sang / listened to "The Button Factory." An updated Emergency Phone List was sent out. PhotobucketKaitlynn received the book on back order from the previous Scholastics book order. That was fast! PhotobucketPhotobucket PhotobucketA girl in Kaitlynn's class, Lauren, made this for her. That evening, we attended Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie's Magic Show. I did a previous review post for this show. We had a late dinner at Applebees after the show. Kaitlynn was our entertainment. She was dancing by the table and doing the splits. She loves to entertain and dance! My headache was back and worse, so I had to take the presription med. That made it better.
