May Day and Engagement Anniversary

Sunday, May 1st, is our Engagement Anniversary. 7 years ago, Dave proposed to me. He rented my favorite car, had flowers waiting and took me to one of my favorite parks. I can't believe it's been 7 years, but then again it's starting to get hard to remember the times he hasn't been in my life.

We went to church, which kicked off the Uncommon campaign / series. Our message was about where God is taking us / leading us as a church. Kaitlynn attended her class, too. They learned "Jesus is our friend and He wants us to be His friend, too."

After lunch, Dave and I worked on cleaning out the garage. I mean, cleaning it out! We threw everything away. It started raining while we were cleanign / clearing it out, but that didn't stop us. I should've taken a before and after picture, but I just took an after picture because I was so proud of how clean and organized it was. That garage hasn't looked that good since we moved in 7 years ago. It took us about hours to get it this clean.

While we were cleaning out the garage, Kaitlynn was "helping" us, playing with Bailey in the front yard (on a leash) and meeting our new neighbors that were moving in that day. The new neighbors have 2 kids, Lizzy who is 9 and Logan who is almost 4. They have 2 dogs too. Kaitlynn was having fun hanging out with Lizzy and meeting their dogs. She didn't get to meet Logan because he wasn't home. Kaitlynn cut up both of her legs (not too bad) climbing the neighbor's tree.

Strange thing about the itching I was having the last month or so, I was itching in church, then didn't itch the rest of the day. Baby moved around. I had Braxton Hicks.

We treated ourselves to Dairy Queen for the hard work we accomplished with the basement. My legs, feet, back and head were hurting by the time we got done cleaning.

Kaitlynn took a shower and got ready for bed. She was asleep by about 9PM. That evening, the President reported that Bin Laden was dead - killed by US Military.

I am grateful for the garage being cleaned out, meeting the new neighbors, not itching much, church, US Military, CIA and Presidents Bush and Obama.

Monday, the 2nd, I got up early to get the glucose screening and this time I fasted. I didn't sleep well, so I was tired. While waiting for the Lab to open, I almost finished reading "I Quit." While waiting for my blood to be drawn after drinking that yucky stuff, I called my ob's office about my itching. I got home almost a few hours later. I felt so sick from fasting and drinkning that yucky stuff. I was nauseaos, felt faint, hot and sweaty. I started itching again, too.

Kaitlynn was trying to help me with making breakfast. I got a call in the middle of making oatmeal. She decided to finish making it for me. She poured way too much water in the bowl and then spilled half of it bringing it to me. Such a sweet girl!

The nurse at my ob's office said I needed to go for a serum bile test and prescribed me a medication for itching. I had to wait to get the blood test until the next morning because it's another test you have to fast for. I scheduled an appointment for the lab for the next morning.

After lunch, I took a nap. Kaitlynn and I went to MawMaw's. Kaitlynn painted my nails and we went to dinner and the grocery store. After getting home, Kaitlynn took a shower and got ready for bed. I read her some of her new Scholastics books, "Belle and the New Puppy" and "Bombaloo." We read her devotional, prayed and I turned on Joy FM for her. She was asleep after 9PM. She was so tired while I was reading to her. I took a pill for itching. Since they can make you sleepy, I can only take them in the evening because I just don't feel comfortable taking them during the day with taking care of Kaitlynn. The nurse really stressed that they can make you sleepy.

MawMaw bought baby boy some sleepers.

That morning when Kaitlynn was with Dave while I was getting the glucose screen, she said "Holy crap!" when she saw the flowers were almost blooming outside. Then later that morning, after I got home, she told me she wanted baby brother's name to be Max. She was watching Max and Ruby on Nickelodeon.

I was grateful for being able to take a nap, glucose test, ob's office being so fast with my concerns, navy seals and military.

26 Weeks

Friday, April 29th, marked 26 weeks. According to BabyCenter, the network of nerves in the baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear our voices as we chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. His testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

Kaitlynn played with her Zhu Zhu pets, Barbies before lunch. After lunch, she got ready for preschool. It was a snow day makeup. For snack, she chose a granola bar and raisins. After I took her to school, I went to get the glucose tolerance test. I couldn't do the test though, because I was supposed to fast. I went back home, did dishes and watched my soaps. I picked Kaitlynn up from school. The daily schedule said they read "Grumpy Bird," planted flowers in the community garden, released their worms into the garden and went outside to play on the playground.

After school, I had to get Kaitlynn ready for her professional pictures in her dance recital costume. I was so nervous about keeping the costume clean and not tearing it. I almost had a heart attack. It went by pretty fast. Thankfully Ms. Julie and Mrs. B were there. Mrs. B was posing all the girls. Kaitlynn looked darling. I can't wait to get the pictures back. Ms. Julie introduced Kaitlynn to her girls. As cute as Kaitlynn looked in her costume, I couldn't wait to get it off (because I didn't want it to get messed up). We went to get special drinks afterwards. I called the male cashier a woman. I'd like to just blame that on pregnancy brain.

At home, we cleaned the trash out of the car and then rested until Dave got home. Kaitlynn told me about them releasing the worms in the garden at school and said they didn't squish them. She said Ms. M (her teacher) said the worms didn't have teeth to bite them. We went to El Nopal for dinner. After dinner, I was having Braxton Hicks. My stomach got so tight and hard, it felt like it was going to burst. I was sore and felt a little bruised afterwards.

Kaitlynn took a bath and got ready for bed with Dave. She was asleep after 9PM. Dave and I watched "Back Up Plan." Baby moved around.

I was grateful for the snow day makeup, the photography place being so close by since I was freaking out about Kaitlynn having her costume on, Mrs. B and Ms. Julie being there and I didn't need to use the road that was flooded by our house for any reason that day.

Saturday, the 30th, Dave felt the baby move while we were watching the movie. My arms and legs have been so itchy the last few weeks to a month. I can tell when the baby is going to move because it feels like a little air bubble first. When Kaitlynn woke up, she said she wants her teachers, Ms. E and Ms. A to come over to her house for a visit and bring Max.

She finally had her first T-ball practice. The last 3 weeks, it's been canceled due to the fields being to wet to play on. When we first got to the park, Kaitlynn said she had a headache. She played at the playground first.

We went over to sign her in, she played on the field with Dave until practice started. They were throwing the ball back and forth to each other. When it was time for parents to get off the field, Dave just walked off without telling Kaitlynn what was going on. That confused her and she didn't want to stay on the field either. I talked to her and was able to get her to go with her group. She stayed with a female instructor. The kids were broke into 3 groups of 5-6 kids. Kaitlynn was on the field and participated with her group for about 30 minutes.

Then the groups combined and started running the bases. One of the female instructors / helpers left the field and it kind of upset Kaitlynn. She started to cry and told the other female instructor that she missed her mom. I went on the field and tried to talk her into going back over with the group, but she refused. We watched the rest of the practice, which was just about 10 minutes left. Kaitlynn said she didn't like it and didn't want to play. She said she was afraid of the other kids. I think she was just nervous, shy or intimidated. After practice, she played at the playground for awhile before we went home.

Sometimes, I get so upset with Kaitlynn when I see mine or Dave's negative qualities come out in her - like when she is afraid to try something new, when she is hard on herself (perfectionism), stubborn and / or says she can't. I don't take that out on her, but it does make me sad. I try to make sure that I listen to her and not push her too much. I hate to see our negative qualities in her. I guess because I feel responsible for her feeling that way. I know that some of it is just typical and everyone feels that way at some time or another. I just hate seeing my beautiful, talented, most amazing little girl ever feel that way about herself. She is amazing and perfect in my eyes. She can do anything she puts her mind to. God has given her so many talents!

At home, she helped Dave mow the lawn. She had her bubble mower out.

She helped me pick up sticks and weeds in the front yard. I continued to itch really bad and remembered reading something online about an acquaintance having that problem during pregnancy. That person had ICP. So of course I googled it and read lots of things on it. I was scared and convinced that I might have it. It is an issue with your liver during pregnancy and can cause complications with the baby. The only thing was that I was not itching on the palm of my hands or soles of my feet. I was itching on my arms, hands, feet, legs, chest and neck. Actually, I was itching so bad the other night, I nearly scratched a mole off my arm. I was upset about the possibility of having this condition, so I took a shower to try to calm myself down. I didn't call my ob because I knew they would have to do a blood test first to see if I had this condition and since it was the weekend there was nothing that could be done. I applied lots of lotion in hopes that would help, but it didn't. Baby was moving around, so that made me feel better. I was running a little bit of a fever, so I took some Tylenol. Later I took some Benadryl to try to help with the itching.

Kaitlynn took a 2 hour nap. After dinner, she showered and watched Phineas and Ferb. Since she took a late nap, she didn't go to sleep until about 11PM.

I was grateful for t-ball and that Kaitlynn tried it out, that I got to rest, Dave was able to come to her first t-ball practice, it didn't rain and we had beautiful weather.

30th Week of Dance and 33rd Week of Preschool

Tuesday, April 26th, Kaitlynn woke up to having a dream about worms in the shower trying to eat her. She asked if worms had arms. They are observing live worms in her preschool classroom and I think she is a little apprehensive about it. Kaitlynn took a shower and got ready for dance class. It was observation week. All 5 girls were in class. Dave and Kaitlynn's grandma came to watch her. Kaitlynn did well. Afterwards, we went home for lunch and to get ready for preschool. For snack, she chose an apple and raisins. While Kaitlynn was in preschool, I checked my emails and napped.
PhotobucketKaitlynn received her book from Scholastics.

The daily schedule said they read "Not a Boy," worked on surprises for their moms, played Kids on Stage (a charades game), went outside to play on the playground and in music had an all children's request. When I picked Kaitlynn up, she wanted to play outside of school for a bit.

We went to MawMaw's. In the car on the way there, she fell asleep. She napped for about an hour. We went to the mall, had dinner and then went to the hair salon. I had an appointment to get my hair cut, highlighted and eye brows waxed. MawMaw watched Kaitlynn. Kaitlynn thought I looked so funny with the foils in my hair. I really liked my new hair dresser.

Kaitlynn got home, took a bath, got ready for bed and we read her devotional. At bedtime, she said my stomach was getting taller and taller. She is very sweet because she always asks how the baby is doing. Although she saws, "How's your baby doing?" I think it's funny when she refers to the baby as just mine. Kaitlynn watched a little Dancing with the Stars before bed and got upset when it was over. That was her first and only time watching the show, but she enjoyed the dancing. When Dave got home, Kaitlynn told him about how funny my hair looked and wanted me to show him a picture of how funny my hair looked (with the foils in it). She was a little disappointed to hear I didn't take a picture. She was asleep about 10PM. Baby moved around, I had a little bit of heartburn and some Braxton Hicks.

I was grateful for being able to get my hair done, Kaitlynn having a good day at dance and school, she did well for MawMaw, sun shining and no rain.

Wednesday, the 27th, I woke up at 3AM and had a hard time going back to sleep. I didn't feel well that morning. Kaitlynn told me to stay in bed and that daddy would take her to school. Sweet girl! Of course, daddy had to go to work, so he couldn't take her to school. After lunch, when I told Kaitlynn it was time to get ready for school, she said it was too late to go to school. It was dark out and raining. Then she asked if we were going in our pajamas. She got ready for preschool after lunch. She chose raisins and chips for snack.

I filled out the paperwork for her to do a week of Summer Camp at her school. I also signed her up for a Self-Esteem class that her and I would attend together. While she was at school, I made the beds, did the dishes, watched my soaps and rescheduled some doctor appointments. I picked up Kaitlynn from school. The daily schedule said the reread "Not a Boy," continued creating box art (pretending the box is something else), played kick the ball in the gym and in music listened to "Goin' on a Bear Hunt."

We went to Circle K and then to MawMaw's. On the way, she fell asleep. She napped in the car for about an hour. It took that long to get to MawMaw's because of the rain and traffic. We went to the mall and had dinner. Then MawMaw had an appointment to get her hair done. Afterwards, we ran another errand, then went home. Kaitlynn got ready for bed and we read her devotional. She went to sleep after 10PM. Baby moved around.

I was grateful for being safe while driving in the rain, no flooding and Kaitlynn's school.

Thursday, the 28th, Kaitlynn got ready for preschool. For snack she chose, an apple and raisins. I felt sick before taking her to school. We got to preschool about 5 minutes late. While at school, I did laundry and went to the post office. I picked Kaitlynn up from preschool. The daily schedule said they did Yoga, played I Spy bingo (listening for letter sounds), went outside on the playground and in music sang / listened to BINGO. Kaitlynn walked her friends to the bus.

Kaitlynn had swim class. Ms. Tori was her instructor. There were 6 kids in her class. They dove for rings, made rain clouds, used the kickboard, practiced arm circles, floating (while they counted to 10), played red light / green light, did rocketship, torpedo, red light / green light again and jumped in 2 times. Another instructor helped towards the end of class. Kaitlynn let go of the wall and went under a few times. She handled it well. She is getting more and more comfortable with going under water. She took a shower after class was over.

We came home and had dinner. Kaitlynn took a bath and got ready for bed, she read some books and her devotional with Dave and prayed. She was asleep after 9:30PM. Baby moved around. He seems to have dropped and is not up as high as he was. I had some Braxton Hicks.

I was grateful for Kaitlynn's school and the school district, swimming, transportation, waking up / having another day to spend with Kaitlynn and Dave and carrying baby in my womb and no flooding in the area. It has been raining a lot.

Sunday, April 24th, was Easter Sunday. We woke up earlier than usual to get ready and for Kaitlynn to enjoy an egg hunt inside.

After she found all the hidden eggs, she got to check out her Easter basket.

As we were driving to Mimi's for breakfast, Kaitlynn found a cup of cheese sauce (from the day before) and spilled it on her dress. Thankfully it wasn't too bad. Breakfast was yummy, except for feeling extremely nauseous afterwards. I felt better by the time we arrived at church. The Unwrapped series continued with a look at the Resurrection. In Kaitlynn's class, she learned about Jesus is Alive! The True Easter Story (Matthew 28:1-8).

After church, Kaitlynn had her usual hot chocolate. She wanted to bring my decaf coffee to me and burned her finger (it spilled out of the cup a little). We went to the bathroom and ran cold water on it and she was OK. We went home for lunch. Kaitlynn played with the dogs for a bit. Then we left to go to MawMaw's. Once we got there, we started cooking. Kaitlynn and MawMaw played a matching game (from the Easter egg dye). Aunt Neese, Brandon and Dan came over for dinner.

MawMaw gave Kaitlynn 2 fairy dolls (Tinker Bell and Silvermist) for Easter. Hanna and Adam came over after we ate dinner. Hanna brought Kaitlynn an Easter basket filled with candy. Dave hid eggs for Kaitlynn and Brandon to find. Kaitlynn had fun playing with Brandon. He gets her so wound up and then gets mad at her because she won't leave him alone. He got upset with Kaitlynn and broke (step on) one of her plastic Easter eggs. I guess that's typical older / younger cousin relationship stuff. He just gets so jealous of her. And she just loves him so much.

Everyone has been asking about what baby boy's name is going to be. Kaitlynn is very adamant that his name is Baby Brother!

We got home after 8:30 and got Kaitlynn ready for bed. She was asleep after 10:30. Bab moved around. I had some Braxton Hicks, pain in my upper and lower right side of back and some heartburn.

I was grateful for my family, a fun get together, Kaitlynn getting to enjoy the egg hunt before leaving for breakfast and church that morning and most of all not only for Jesus dying on the cross for my sins, but for His Resurrection.

Monday, the 25th, Kaitlynn slept in a bit. She watched some morning cartoons on Nickelodeon. Thanks to Bubble Guppies, she thought that squirrels, birds and bunnies could live underwater. I put some salt in a baking pan and let Kaitlynn draw letters (K and x), circles, made her handprint and even drew a banana. Soon she started getting the salt all over and it was time to put it away. Ms. M, her teacher had told me about this activity. We had lunch and then went to MawMaw's to take her to an appointment. On the way to MawMaw's, Kaitlynn said "Jesus saved us!" It was a proud moment to hear her say those words. It makes me thankful for our kidzministry at church. We ran some errands, ate dinner and came home. Kaitlynn can be a little stinker. For dinner, she wanted to go to the spicy place (Qdoba) because last time she wanted to go there MawMaw said she couldn't eat there because it was too spicy for her. She likes to give MawMaw trouble. Kaitlynn tried on her dance recital costumme and looked so adorable!

She took a bath and we read her devotional. She was asleep after 9PM. Baby moved around throughout the day. I had heartburn and Braxton Hicks. Dave and I watched "The Switch."

I was grateful for the rain not turning into severe weather, no flooding near us and being safe.
